Community Partnerships

Our community partnerships are rooted in love, service, and a shared calling to care for others. By working together, we seek to serve and uplift our neighbors—both locally and around the globe—reflecting our commitment to compassion and faithful stewardship.

Midwest Street Medicine–Aberdeen

Midwest Street Medicine Aberdeen is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing patient centered healthcare to people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in Aberdeen, SD. We meet people where they are with dignity, compassion, and care.

Instead of waiting for individuals experiencing homelessness to seek help, our team realized the opportunity to bring care directly to the streets.

Our team is comprised of multi-disciplinary volunteers with various educational backgrounds, life experiences, and industry connections. Our goal is to build trusting relationships with people over time so we can provide necessary treatment and assistance to them on the streets, while also advocating for their physical, behavioral, emotional, and social needs in other settings as requested.

Lutheran Campus Ministry

Zion partners with our local ELCA Lutheran Campus Ministry group at Northern State University here in Aberdeen.  This group provides faith opportunities for young adults while they attend college away from their home church.  Occasionally, the LuMin group will provide a temple talk, worship with our congregation on a Sunday morning, or even share their experiences on service trips.

Evangelical Church in America

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with nearly 2.7 million members in more than 8,400 worshiping communities across the 50 states and in the Caribbean region.

We are what God has made us – people whom God has created by grace to live in union with Jesus Christ and has prepared to live faithful, fruitful lives by the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:8-10).

We are a church that walks by faith, trusting God’s promise in the gospel and knowing that we exist by and for the proclamation of this gospel word. We proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and raised from the dead for the life of the world.

Just as God has joined us to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in baptism, we are also joined to others, not only in the ELCA and The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), but in all communities of Christian faith around the world.
