YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY

At Zion Lutheran Church, children are an integral part of our ministry in so many ways.  We believe that a child’s faith grows through relationships – within a family, between home and church, and a personal relationship with Jesus. As a church that cares about children and their faith, we support numerous opportunities for faith development.

Holy Baptism:

Zion seeks to empower parents and sponsors to fulfill the promises made to their child at Baptism.

"You should, therefore, faithfully bring him to the services of God's house, and teach her the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten commandments. As he grows in years, you should place in her hand the Holy Scriptures and provide for his instruction in the Christian faith, that, living in the covenant of her Baptism and in communion with the church, he may lead a godly life until the day of Jesus Christ." LBW p. 121

We do this by providing:

Family Friendly Worship: experiences at 8:30 am for a traditional service in the sanctuary and at 10:45 am for a blended service in the Fellowship Hall. A time for children is included in worship at each service.

Christian Education: opportunities for ages 3-16. We have weekly Sunday School for children 3 years old through 8th grade in our Education Wing.

Vacation Bible School: is held each June for four days in the evening for ages 3 through the 5th grade.

Family Confirmation:
Zion follows a family style of confirmation instruction to achieve its goal of empowering parents and sponsors to fulfill the promises made to their child at Baptism.
