COVID-19 Response

We are excited to begin welcoming worshipers back into the building starting on Sunday, August 16. For the time being, we will have one Sunday morning service at 8:30 and maintain our online worship service as well. We will be limiting attendance at the 8:30 service in order to ensure that we are able to practice physical distancing, as well as other adaptations to reduce the risk of virus transmission.

Zion Returning to In Person Worship

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 4:6-7)

March 13, 2020

Dear beloved saints of Zion Lutheran Church,

Due to the COVID-19 virus and heeding our national and state officials, the executive leadership team has made the difficult decision to suspend all ministries and activities at Zion March 14-21. This includes Sunday, March 15 and Wednesday, March 18 worship services.

You are invited to join in worship by listening to our Sunday 8:30 a.m. radio broadcast on Hub City Radio: KSDN 930 AM/102.1 FM. I will also be looking at creative ways to bring you worship experiences while we are not able to meet together and to connect with one another as a community. Church leaders will be meeting to plan for the possibility of needing to suspend ministries for longer than the coming week. In the meantime, I am available via phone, email, and text for conversation and prayer. My cell phone is 605-252-0320 or you can email me at

We are experiencing a time of uncertainty and anxiety that reaches into all aspects of our life together. But we are given great and gracious promises to sustain us. In Psalm 46, we are reminded that it is God who is our refuge and strength, and our ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, let us not fear, but with confidence use this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus through our prayers and our care for others.

In Christ’s peace,

Pastor Erin Heidelberger
